University of Oklahoma Professor Feels Uncomfortable Around White People
Following the unfortunate incident involving the SAE fraternity members at the University of Oklahoma, one OU professor decided to throw gasoline on the fire by making some very questionable comments to the LA Times.
Mirelsie Velazquez, a professor in the university’s College of Education says she’s often the only person of color in classes or walking around town. With the release of the video, Velazquez said she’s able to put faces and voices to the feeling she gets as a person of color standing in front of a room full of white faces.
“As we stand there teaching, not just at Oklahoma, and you think about how these students behave in their private time, you wonder, how do they view me and my community?” said Velazquez, who’s had trouble sleeping since the video emerged.
Velazquez recently moved to Oklahoma from Chicago where she taught Latina/Latino Studies at the University of Illinois Champaign. At Oklahoma she has been hired to teach our future public and private school teachers Critical Race Theory and Latino Education. Basically, she is paid to teach whites to feel bad about themselves and to give a false sense of entitlement to people of color. Since Oklahoma is a public University, guess who pays for that nonsense being taught to our future professionals...
One would conclude that Velazquez seems to take issue with the lack of minorities in Norman. According to the 2010 Census, there were 110,925 people residing in Norman. The racial makeup was 84.7% White, 4.3% African American, 4.7% Native American, 3.8% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.9% from other races, and 5.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.4% of the population.

Then why did you move here hon? Why did you thrust yourself into the situation by making racist comments in the LA Times? Who taught you to fear white people? Did it not ever cross your mind that moving to the buckle of the deeply red Bible Belt might be a culture shock coming from a nearly communist blue Illinois? Did the liberal utopia of Chicago not provide you with enough social justice? Did you think we needed enlightenment, or are we just too white and need some help with that? I personally wish we could write laws that would keep people like this out of Oklahoma...but that wouldn't be very American.
Maybe someone should inform Mirelsie that most people in Norman aren't all that concerned with her ethnic background. Maybe someone should tell Mirelsie she looks pretty white. Norman may not be the most diverse city in America, but being a life long resident, I can honestly say that Norman has some of the most non judgmental, friendliest people in the country. Yeah we kind of have a southern bent where you can't go a block without running into another BBQ joint. We worship football and can be quite loud about it. I'm sure all the "big trucks" and good ole boys frightened poor Mirelsie. Nevertheless, I would almost bet the house that no one seeing Ms Velazquez out in public even cares about her Hispanic heritage; let alone the color of her skin. She's clearly a narcissist that thinks the spotlight follows her around. Oklahoma as a whole is a pretty diverse state, and the people in Norman do leave the city limits from time to time. Sorry Mirelsie. You're just not that big of a deal.
The truth of the matter is Ms Velazquez is the poster child of the race obsessed left. There are Mirelsie Velazquezes everywhere we turn. They inundate the dialogue with nonstop talk of racism and injustice. They constantly remind us of demographics by dividing people up by race and ethnicity. They are obsessed with talk of diversity and "change." But the true agenda is about fundamentally transforming the landscape. It's about changing the electorate. This is more about whites commonly voting for Republicans, while people of color traditionally supporting the Democrats. This is about their view of whites having a majority for far too long. It's about payback for injustices of the past. To them, diversity means one thing; less white people. It's racism in its purest form and it has long been ignored by the vast majority of Americans. In my opinion, people like Ms Velazquez are the Klan members. People like her are the ones that create division and hatred. To them, there will never be enough justice. It's their drug and they have no plans of rehabilitation. They create the double standard while good people are too afraid to speak out against it. These people permeate our educational system and they infect our kids with their venom.
Be sure to check out Ms Velasquez's twitter page. It's nonstop social justice and she wears her race on her forehead. In fact, I don't think there is much of anything else to her.
